It's a man's world

I am married to one stylish man. His current obsession is pocket sqaures so hopefully he checks out this post. I must admit before GK became obsessed with pocket squares I didn't even notice them, but now I see them everywhere, and they do joosh up a jacket nicely.

Have I mentioned, he is also super keen on elbow patches.

GK has mentioned he is going to try a vest under the jacket this winter and he would absolutly love this bow tie combo but I don't think Melbourne is ready for pocket square, vest and bow tie - but who knows...

Enjoy your first day of May.

Jacket envy

I'm such a big fan if Isabel Marant, but at $4,670 sadly this little number is out of my price range. But seriously, how does she come up with this stuff - quilted denim jacket with that fabulous detailing. I'm going home to plant a money tree...

Weekend Instagram

Coffee at Manchester Press - Melbourne. Have you been there? Super great coffee & bagels.

GK and I love love love Farmers Markets - we came across this one in Auburn and we were most pleasantly suprised. Amazingly good produce on offer and loads of lovely stalls, next time we need to remember to bring more bags!

Check out the line for the lamb and beef stall - we figured if there were this many people lining up it's gotta be good, and it was.

Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Heaven in Bernalda

As Tina Fey would say - I want to go to there!

Oh boy, how amazing is Palazzo Margherita. This amazing little hotel was built in 1892 and has recently been restored to its heavenly beauty. I think this is what everyone imagines holidaying in Italy should be like. Bernalda is a small village in Italy perched on top of hill at the bottom of the boot so it looks like a fabulous stop for a short stay while exploring Italy.

They even offer cooking classes where you can watch and learn how to make what's on offer for dinner that evening - how could you pass that up, although I don't know how I would tear myself away from having cocktails by that gorgeous pool, perhaps I could do the cooking class in the morning...

Have a great weekend.

Tea Party

I have loved Tea Party's since I was a little girl. My Nan (Mamie) used to have her girlfriends over every Wednesday to play cards and have Tea which consisted of lots of home made goodies like finger sandwiches, sponges, cream puffs and the like. Growing up, my Nan used to live with us so as soon as I got home from school I would race around to her kitchen to see what treats she had left for me.

Don't these images make you want to get your girlfriends over for a gorgous afternoon tea.

Inspirational

I have just been reading about Stephanie Nielson in the latest Who Weekly. She and her husband survived a small plane crash but she had burns to 80 percent of her body. Stephanie has such an inspiration story, growing up a stunning young woman, marrying a handsom man and starting a beutiful family only to have it all come crashing down. She was so disfigured in the plane crash that even her children didn't recognise her, but thankfully she realised how lucky she is to be alive and that she is still a beautiful woman.

Stephanie has just released a book "Heaven is Here" and if her blog is anything to go by I will definately be grabbing a copy. Think the release date in Australia is 1 May, but in the meantime check out Stephanie's blog here.

Hope you have a great weekend.

K. Slademade

This will make my husband freakout, but I really want to get the K. Slademade leopard print clutch pictured below - what do you think? I have been looking around for a clutch like this for a little while know and this one ticks all the boxes (accept for the husband tick of approval...).

Make sure you check out the K. Slademade website and blog, she is super talented and very reasonably priced.

93 - this is how it turned out

So the 93rd birthday cake turned out a little different than I had planned, but GK's grandma still loved it - think that was because it was red on the inside. Who doesn't love a red velvet cake.

Back to work after a fabulous long weekend - wish every weekend was 4 days!

Golden Fields

OK so I don't usually take photo's of my food, but thought I would give it a shot last night. GK and I had such a super fun night, started out with dinner at Golden Fields in St Kilda, we had heard so many good things we had been dying to try it out, and we were not dissapointed. Then we popped down the road to an Earth Wind and Fire Concert, so much fun and it was fun to be 2 of the youngest people in the crowd.

I know, should have taken the photo before chomping in. But in my defence this is a lobster roll and it looked so good I couldn't wait. So yummy, everything tastes good in a brioche bun if you ask me.

Duck pockets that you put together yourself. This crispy skin on this duck is so amazing. I'm not usually a big fan of duck, but this was amazing.

GK pulling our duck to pieces

Dessert - a little plate of peanut butter, chocolate, salty caramel goodness.

If you are ever in St Kilda do head on in to Golden Fields, you will not be dissapointed.

Not your average Easter cookie

These put a whole new spin on Easter goodies for eating, although these delightful cookies are more like works of art, but if it looks this good how can it not taste great. They are the work of Patti Paige: Baked ideas custom baking (link below). Sadly, I think if I ordered these, by the time they got to Australia they wouldn't look like this anymore, (or taste as fresh).

My dream home

It's not just because this most magnificent home is in Manhatten or that it's Ralph Lauren's Alredo Peredes' home, I think it just tick's all the boxes. I love, love, love the windows, can you imagine how incredible this view is in the evening over the Manhatten skyline.

Happy Monday!
